The Club’s current president, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston made his mark on the sailing world as the first person to sail round the world alone and single-handed, non-stop in 1968. He completed the Velux5Oceans solo round the world race in 2006-7 at the age of 68.
The Club now has over a thousand members across the British Isles.
The Club occupies 6000 ft2 purpose-built premises overlooking the river Thames at the north-east corner of Southwark Bridge in the City of London where members enjoy a restaurant, bar, clubroom, cabins and a library.
The clubhouse has become a popular venue for sailing and marine product launches and media events as well as a centre for RYA shore-based training.
